Proper
Care of Your Eyeglasses

The following are
some instructions about how to properly care for your eyeglasses. Please
use them to help ensure the successful ongoing enjoyment of your new eyeglasses.
| DO'S |
DON'TS |
- Rinse
your lenses with water before wiping or cleaning especially
after being in a dusty environment. Very fine dirt and debris
on the lenses can act like sandpaper if rubbed around on the surface
of your lenses.
- On
a regular basis, use eyeglass lens cleaner or mild liquid soap,
gently clean the surface of your lenses, and then rinse. Pat the
lens dry with a clean soft cloth.
- Try
to use both hands to put on and remove your eyeglasses.
This helps them to stay in adjustment and maintain proper frame
and lens alignment.
- Do
keep your glasses in your eyeglass case when they are not in use.
This protects them from dust and the elements, and also from any
physical impacts.
- Do
come into our clinic for regular frame adjustments to
help maintain the proper alignment of your eyeglasses. This can
be particularly significant for bifocal and progressive lenses,
and high prescriptions.
- Do
return to our clinic at anytime if you feel that you need any
additional instructions and explanations about the use
and care of your eyeglasses.
|
- Do
not use tissue, paper towels, or other paper products
to clean your lenses. The paper fibres can act as an abrasive
and damage the coatings and surface of your lenses over time.
- Keep
anti-reflection coated lenses away from significant heat
(e.g., do not leave them in the car during the summer). The heat
can permanently damage the coating.
- Do
not use ammonia based cleaners
(e.g., Windex) as they may damage the lens coatings and surface.
- Do
not apply hairspray or perfume mist
around your eyewear. It can damage the lens coatings and surface.
- Do
not lay your glasses on a table/surface with the front of the
lenses faced downwards. This can scratch the front surface
of your lenses.
- Don't forget
that unfortunately eyeglass lenses can only come
with a scratch "resistant" not scratch "proof"
coating. Ongoing proper care of your eyeglasses is needed
to help protect them.
